Assessment context

What service are you assessing?

ESMA separates service maturity from technology capability. The Lite assessment uses selected high-value controls from the wider UMMIM methodology and challenges unsupported maturity claims through evidence confidence.

This is an indicative self-assessment, not certification or formal assurance. Nothing is uploaded and answers remain in your browser.

Core ESMA

Leadership & governance

Is the service defined, owned, governed and funded as a service rather than just a technology platform?

3
Core ESMA

Service operations

Can the service be supported, changed, accepted and escalated consistently under real operating conditions?

4
Core ESMA

Technology, automation & assurance

Are operational controls, lifecycle, automation and continuous improvement evidenced rather than assumed?

5
Domain Pack 01

SD-WAN service maturity

Now test the controls that distinguish an operational SD-WAN service from a collection of appliances and licences.

        The UMMIM interpretation

A technically sophisticated platform can still be an immature enterprise service. ESMA looks for accountable ownership, repeatable operations, lifecycle control, governed automation and evidence-led improvement as well as technical capability.

        Discuss a full ESMA

ESMA Lite is an indicative diagnostic. A formal UMMIM ESMA requires evidence review, stakeholder validation and a service-specific assessment scope. The full methodology contains a broader question bank, conditional controls and deeper assurance testing.

        Maturity is more than technology

A platform can be optimised while the service remains governance constrained.

Use ESMA to separate technical capability from operational readiness, accountability, assurance and long-term sustainability.
